Blogger Recognition Award Nomination

I would like to thank my friend at craftandothercrazyplans for this lovely nomination.

The rules:

  • Write a post to show your award
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to

Why did I start this blog?

Hand crafting is a way of life for me.  I became a Stampin’ UP! demonstrator 5 years ago and began running classes from home when I found that many other people wanted to learn to make my cards. I had never been interested in selling cards, but I did enjoy teaching people how. I know how happy my classes make people and that is why I continue.

Moving onto blogging was a natural progression from facebook groups and other social media.  It has taken me a while to get to grips with it and I should probably spend more time, but I don’t want it to become something I do because I have to, rather I want to enjoy meeting others who enjoy the things I enjoy so much. Sharing is part of hand crafting and the people one meets as a result of a posting something you have made is very gratifying.

Tips for new bloggers?

  1. Keep it simple:  Start off with something easy, like a photograph or an uplifting quote.
  2. Don’t forget the importance of tags and Categories.  Add them to every post.
  3. Always thank people for taking the time to comment. Likes are nice,  but a comment is gold.

I am tagging:

  1. Hi Barbara, congratulations on your well-deserved nomination for the Blogger Recognition Award. Your blog posts are so engaging and beautifully presented. Your support of other blogs through likes and comments is appreciated, and your feedback is thoughtful and well-considered. You certainly practice what you preach, and it was interesting to read about why you started to blog as well as tips for new bloggers.

    1. My pleasure, I love your blog. Yes, it’s a great way to share what others are doing. That is what blogging is all about I think. Perhaps that is a good idea for a post now and then, to give a thumbs up to a blog that you visit often and really enjoy. Warmly, Barbara

      1. Sorry (again!). I saw this comment at a time I was not able to reply, and then it went out of my head. I think this is a great idea.

  3. You are most welcome, I love your blog. Yes I do wonder about people who never comment too, but what can you do. I always try to leave a small comment because someone has taken the time to share something that means a lot to them. I enjoy these small snippets of other people lives, it’s a beautiful thing.

  4. I think your tips for new bloggers are on point. I had no idea about tags at first. I ended up going back and tagging after the fact! 😉 Replying to comments is huge. If people take the time to not only read, but also comment…well they deserve your attention. You’d never ignore a person in real life that said something to you! Can you imagine. ha! 🙂

  5. Hi again Barbara,
I have been pondering all week over your very kind nomination. I tried to choose other blogs to nominate but I am fond of too many. I hope you will not be offended but I am preparing a mega shout out instead. I feel happier doing this I think. Also congratulation on being featured on Make IT Ultra. Well deserved.

  6. You are so sweet, please don’t feel any pressure to do anything you are unhappy with. I am not terribly tech savvy, so have struggled with linking, so I used my nomination as a kind of exercise to become more acquainted with that. Your blog is one I love to visit and that will continue to be a source of inspiration to me. I am in no way offended, it isn’t about awards really. I do thank you in advance for the’shout out’ (I love that term).
