Layered Embossing using Metallic Embossing powders

I was over on Jennifer McGuire’s Youtube library and watched her make a very pretty card using the Layered Embossing Technique.  She has loads of really good videos, and it is well worth subscribing to her channel.

Of course I wanted to try the technique for myself and as luck would have it, I had recently purchased a stamp set called “Penned and Painted” from Stampin’ UP! which has just the right stamp layers to try this out. Each flower is stamped with three layers, a base stamp, a detail stamp, and an outline stamp.

The camera hasn’t picked up the layer colours very well in this photo and I will add another below. I first stamped the  largest layer with Versamark and heat embossed it in silver. The next layer, which is the detail in the stamp, is Versamarked and embossed in gold.  Finally the outline of the flower was stamped in Versamark and embossed in copper embossing powder.

This photograph shows up the layers of embossing in the three colours quite well although I don’t think I would win any prizes for my photography skills.

This card will be winging it’s merry way to my dear old dad in UK in a day or two. I hope he likes it.

Why not give Layered embossing a try.

All products used are from Stampin’ UP!

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. The cards are always so much nicer in person, but you know that being a cardmaker yourself. I love this hobby.

  1. Love how you used this technique! Yes, all cards look better in person. This one is beautiful and metallic flower is a great idea for masculine card!
